Event Description

Join the Bettendorf Natural Resources Committee and help remove honeysuckle from 10 sites at Crow Creek Park!

If the honeysuckle is small and the ground is wet enough, we will be using gloves to pull them out. If the plants are too big, we will be using loppers, small saws, and/or an alligator chainsaw for removal. The honeysuckle will then be sprayed with herbicide on the stump. Volunteers will not be asked to use the chainsaw or the herbicide. We may need to drag the plants a short distance to be collected later.

Volunteers must be 16+. The terrain to reach these off the trail sites possibly has poison ivy and several thorny bushes and nettles. All volunteers should wear long sleeves, long pants, sturdy shoes, and socks that meet your pants.
