Event Description
Join Partners of Scott County Watersheds and the City of Walcott to remove invasive species from the wetland areas at Prairie View Park and Heritage Trail. Willows will be removed from the wetland area using loppers and small hand saws and then carried to a designated area in the park for later disposal. Many hands make light work! Removing these trees will ensure that they don't take over the wetlands and shade out surrounding prairie species.
Volunteers under 16 need to be accompanied by an adult. All tools will be provided. Volunteers are encouraged to bring water and wear gloves, a hat, sturdy shoes that may get wet, and long pants. Bug spray and sunscreen are also recommended.
