Volunteers are needed to clean up the I-74 on and off ramps south of Middle Road.
Volunteers will have the chance to contribute to one of the longest-running water quality databases in Iowa to monitor trends in the health of Scott County's watersheds. We will train to use lab equipment to test for pH, nitrogen, chloride, and phosphorus, among other parameters. Then, volunteer groups will test 5-7 sites around Scott County and meet back at the starting location for FREE LUNCH!
Please dress to get wet/dirty. Children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult.
The City of Davenport's Duck Creek Wild and the Partners of Scott County Watersheds are hosting an Xstream Cleanup event "IN" and along Duck Creek on Saturday, September 28th.
The cleanup will take place starting at Fairmount Wetlands, adjacent to the Fairmount Library, and ending at Duck Creek near Brady St.
Volunteers with canoes and canoeing experience are welcome and encouraged to participate, as we will be cleaning from within Duck Creek and along it banks.
Volunteers will use loppers to cut invasive black locust trees from the prairie and haul them out of the prairie to a designated area.
Must be 14 or over to participate due to thorns on black locust trees.
Gloves and tools will be provided.
Volunteers are needed to cleanup debris along shores and trails of riverfront park .
Bring the family as this cleanup is family friendly cleaning up debris along the shore of the Mississippi River. There are some rocky areas and may come across larger items such as tires that will require adult lifting.
Volunteers will help build trail (cutting brush and installing geo-mesh on the trail surface) and remove invasive species (cutting willows with loppers, removing garlic mustard with hands) on the main Marsh property. Others will disassemble a garage at our Carp Lake property.
